A balança comercial do agronegócio brasileiro de 1989 a 2005 AgEcon
Barros, Geraldo Sant'Ana de Camargo; Silva, Simone Fioritti.
This study aims to analyze the agribusiness contribution to Brazil’s trade balance. A new classification of the agribusiness trade balance was proposed and used to analyze the aspects of the exported products –agricultural products, products of animal origin, industrialized foods and imported inputs – represented by fertilizers. Imports and exports vector autoregression models were used to explain the behavior of these variables. An increase of 1% in the attractiveness – product of the exchange rate by the international prices – boosts immediately the exports of non processed agricultural products by 1.71%, stabilizing at 2% after some trimesters. The attractiveness explains 60 to 74% of the forecast error variances of these exportats. It is noted that an...

Assesing Bemisia tabaci (Genn.) biotype B resistance in soybean genotypes: Antixenosis and antibiosis Chilean J. Agric. Res.
Gonçalves Franco da Silva,José Paulo; Lopes Baldin,Edson Luiz; Santana de Souza,Efrain; Lourenção,André Luiz.
Since it was first reported in Brazil in the 1990s, the B biotype of silverleaf whitefly (Bemisia tabaci Genn., Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae) has been recognized as an important pest in soybeans (Glycine max L.), reducing the productivity of this legume species in some areas of the country. As an alternative to chemical control, the use of resistant genotypes represents an important tool for integrated pest management (IPM). This study evaluated the performance of 10 soybean genotypes prior to whitefly infestation, by testing attractiveness and preference for oviposition in the greenhouse and antibiosis in the laboratory. In a multiple-choice test, 'IAC-17' was the least attractive to insects. In a no-choice test, 'IAC-17' was the least attractive for egg...

Host Country Attractiveness for CDM Non-Sink Projects AgEcon
Jung, Martina.
In the present study, CDM host countries are classified according to their attractiveness for CDM non-sink projects. A cluster analysis is conducted based on three different factors determining host country attractiveness (mitigation potential, institutional CDM capacity and general investment climate) in order to elaborate a CDM host country classification. The results suggest that only a small proportion of potential host countries will attract most of the CDM investment. The CDM (non-sink) stars are China, India, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, South Africa, Indonesia and Thailand. They are followed by attractive countries like Costa Rica, Trinidad and Tobago, Mongolia, Panama, and Chile. While most of the promising CDM host countries are located in Latin...

Le caractère territorial des attractions touristiques liées aux pêches maritimes : une illustration par le modèle du panier de biens ArchiMer
Pocheau, Chloé; Alban, Frederique; Le Floc H, Pascal; Legouvello, Raphaela.
The question addressed in this article focuses on the conditions for strengthening the territorial character of tourist attractions around a fishing port with a strong identity. In the face of the depletion of resources, the territories dependent on the exploitation of living marine resources try reconversions during the 1990s, especially towards tourism. The article is based on the fishing port of Guilvinec on which has been created an exhibition center for a large audience. The survey methodology is mobilized to delimit the territory on which the fishing activities and the exhibition center are attractive. An estimate of the expenses incurred by visitors is proposed. The tourist’s consumption of the exhibition center and fisheries is in line with the...
